West Campus Houses
Alice Cook House
Alice Cook House opened in 2004 and was the first of five houses and names in honor of Cornell’s faculty member Alice Hanson Cook. This space includes a dining room that has a full capacity of 270 people with an adjoining common room and lounge that has a full capacity of 145 people. These spaces can be kept open as one big room, or separated into their own spaces. Alice Cook House has smaller meeting rooms that have a full capacity of 20 people.
Carl Becker House
Carl Becker House was named for distinguished professor of American and European history, Carl Lotus Becker. This house offers a dining room that has a full capacity of 270 people, a leisure common area that is connected to the dining room. With plenty of smaller meeting spaces that have capacities ranging from 12 – 20 people, there is plenty of space to connect in smaller groups.
Flora Rose House
Flora Rose House was the fifth house to open in 2009 and was named in honor of Cornell faculty member Flora Rose, who was recruited to Cornell over 100 years ago as a lecturer in Nutrition and contributed to today’s College of Human Ecology through her work. This house boasts one of the larger dining rooms with a full capacity of 350 people and has an adjoining common room with a full capacity of 180 that can be opened into one space or separated into two. Flora Rose House offers smaller meeting spaces perfect for board meetings or breakout sessions.
Hans Bethe House
Hans Bethe House opened in 2007 and was named after Cornell’s faculty member Hans A. Bethe, a world-renowned scientist who received the Nobel Prize in physics for his contribution to nuclear energy. Boasting one of the largest dining rooms with a capacity of 370 people, there is plenty of space to host a conference dinner or keynote session. Just one floor up is a versatile common room with a full capacity of 400 people. This house also offers breakout spaces with capacities ranging from 10 – 20 people.
William Keeton House
William Keeton House opened in 2008 and was named in honor of Cornell’s faculty member William T. Keeton, known for his enthusiasm for research and passionate teaching style. With a dining room, common room and breakout spaces on the lower level, this house gives you a great space for a private event all in one place. The dining room has a full capacity of 220 people, the adjoining common room has a capacity of 50 people and the breakout spaces range from 10-20 people.
