While you're on Campus

We've provided this page with info you might need about your stay on campus. Don't miss our Frequently Asked Questions page, as well!

Climate Control Information

Cornell has both air-controlled buildings and non-air-controlled buildings. Air-controlled buildings have rooms that are designed to stay between 70-75 degrees. This means your room is cooled by the building’s common area and hallway air conditioning.

Please leave windows closed – opening windows reduces the effectiveness of this cooling, and leaves the room susceptible to damage from the elements.

  • Use the arrows to adjust your thermostat manually to cool (73-77) or heat (68-73)
  • Fresh outdoor air is circulated into room continually
  • Fans will turn on & off to maintain temperature
  • Use shades to adjust heat from the sun
  • Submit maintenance requests when room is above 80 degrees or below 65 degrees for 12+ hours

Housekeeping Information

Linens

Your room includes linens while you are on-campus. Linen exchange is available Monday through Friday, upon request. Place the sheets, towels, and/or facecloths that you want to exchange into the bag provided and place outside your door (or suite door, if applicable) by 9:00am, Monday through Friday. A replacement bag of the same items will be returned.

Cleaning

Your bedroom will be cleaned once per week. Bathrooms will be cleaned and serviced three times per week. If you need your trash emptied in between service days, place the can outside your door (or suite door, if applicable) by 9:00am Monday through Friday.
